The story begins in the 1860s, when Pierre-Louis, a cultivator, began growing mushrooms in France. Generations later, his great-great-granddaughter, inspired by years of experience with one of the world’s leading ingredient and fragrance creators, uncovered the remarkable healing properties of mushrooms and began exploring their potential in skincare and supplements.

Our founder, driven by her own struggles with chronic skin irritation, redness, dryness, and flaky patches, took an award-winning skincare formulation course in 2020. Through her research, she discovered that mushrooms could revolutionize skincare focused on healing and hydration. They transformed her skin and inspired a vision to build on this powerful, clinically-tested hero ingredient to skincare routines around the world.

During this journey, she surveyed over 200+ people and realized they were experiencing symptoms of skin burnout, much like her own struggles, too. After interviewing over 40 laboratories in France — none of which worked with mushrooms in the way she envisioned — she set out to create a scalable way to produce organic mushrooms. This led to the discovery of a regenerative farm, where some of our mushrooms in Verdoie formulas are now hand-harvested. With a proprietary blend of beta-glucans distilled from these mushrooms, Verdoie supports skin from the inside out, helping it stay resilient, hydrated, and healthy.
